Aygo Cross fuel gauge

Learned Aygo cross owners. I have 22 miles range left and one bar. The manual says the fuel warning comes on with about 5 litres remaining. With range only 22 miles I expected it to be on by now? Or does it go to range zero then put on the fuel light? Dont want to be filling up too early as would rather wait for reserve to get the range. Also dont want to conk out with no fuel. App says 6% fuel remaining 22 miles range.... No fuel light.
