How critical is the mileage and time interval to keep the chr in warranty.

Is there any allowance for mileage either way or time.

Thanks.

I've just bought a 2018 CHR with 33k miles, the relax warranty doesn't come into force until the car is 5yrs old up until that it is covered by Toyota.  You must present the car at least 2 days before it's last service for service after 5 years for the relax warranty and that comes from the mouth of Toyota. It must also be serviced every 10k miles or one year which ever comes first up to 100000 your on your own then. The car I bought was last serviced by Toyota in April last year so have been advised to present it to Toyota on the 15th of April to carry the relax warranty on.

From recent posts, there is no leeway in terms of servicing - so services every 12 months or 10,000 miles whichever occurs first.

A 2021 car could have had either the 5 year/100,000 miles new car warranty or the 3 year/60,000 miles new car warranty depending when it was first ordered.  The Relax service generated extended warranty will become effective with the Toyota dealer service at or near to the expiry of the new car warranty.

See the attached Relax terms & conditions

No, there's no allowance - it's 10,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first.

All cars are covered by a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. Cars registered before 1st June 2021 should then be covered by two years extended warranty before moving on to the Relax warranty scheme. Cars registered after 1st June 2021 move on to the Relax warranty scheme once the manufacturer's warranty expires.

But why do you ask? Do you require warranty repairs?

Don't tell me it's only had one or two services in 3yrs since it was registered like one car I bought with supposedly full history, turned out to have been a lease car and they claimed they had forgot to take the book to get stamped.

Main dealer will still have service record on the computer system even if the car is 8 year old with only 3 main dealer services it will show up at least in the UK.

That's why I wondered why the OP asks is there an allowance for mileage either way, sounds like it might have gone over.

One Toyota garage told me that between a couple of hundred miles or a couple of weeks theres no problem.

Exactly so. There's no latitude at all officially. If you 'phone to book a service 'before' the due interval and the car 'sneaks over' by the time the service is carried out then "no harm, no foul". But you can't take the pi$$ ... 😉

How about cars not being serviced on time during COVID period a few years ago?

At the time garages were closed April to June. For services due during this period Toyota made appropriate allowances - see the following as an example;

From memory, subsequent services had to be done according to the normal schedule.

So if a service on the time basis was due in April 2020, this would have had to be done after 3rd June 2020 when dealerships re-opened to the general public. However the next service would still have been due  in April 2021.

Key workers (e.g. NHS employees) had different arrangements.

The last service that Toyota did on my CHR was April 18th 2024 at 32k miles and was traded in to a none Toyota dealership in October which immediately cancelled the relax warranty, the dealership I bought it from insisted on servicing the car on purchase at 33,300 miles, I was told by Toyota I must book or present the car to them at least 2 days before the 18th of April in order for the relax warranty to cover it again even though every service before it was traded in was done around the 24th May, this is where the 10000 miles or one year kicks in, even though it is a very low mileage car.
