I bought my GR sport in July 2022 and I also paid for a service agreement and spent over £50,000. On the 20th September I took it for its first service at my local Toyota dealership I was told there was a leaking shock absorber, but they didn't have one in stock and would have to order it. At this point I would have expected to get a call a few days later at the most. A week later I called the dealer and was told the part was on order but they had no information on when it would be delivered. A week after that I was told the same thing. Another week went by and they still had no information on the part which is a serviceable item. I was getting quite annoyed by this point, the manager told me I should ring Toyota head office as I might be able to move things along a bit faster than they could. I rang customer services and told them I have got the most expensive vehicle I have ever bought sat on my drive and I can't use it and they need to do something about it, they organized a curtesy vehicle which to be fair is a Hi Lux. When I exchanged the vehicles I was told the part is due to arrive at the end of November. Today 08th November I had a call from the dealer and was told there is now no information on my part and they have no idea when it is going to arrive. I then rang head office again and they told me it was on back order which is the highest priority but they also have no idea when it will arrive. Until now I couldn't fault the Hilux my previous vehicle was an invincible X also brilliant, if I knew they couldn't get serviceable items like shock absorbers I would have bought a Ford Raptor.

The part is likely coming from overseas ( possibly Japan ) via ship.

It's similar to a thread over on the Lexus forum about UX driveshafts, had to come from Japan & took a good few weeks to arrive.

Parts that rarely fail like both of the above just take up valuable space & become dead stock gathering dust.

You have a courtesy vehicle to put mileage on instead of your own & the part will arrive eventually.

I do understand that and I know it will get here eventually however that doesn't get away from the fact that I am paying a small fortune for road tax, insurance and the expense of the vehicle and I am running around in a standard Hilux.

If I wanted a standard Hilux I would have bought one and the running expenses would have been a lot less.

Also when I exchanged mine for the curtesy vehicle at the dealership, I was told they had sold a vehicle exactly the same as mine but they couldn't let the customer take it because it had got exactly the same problem that mine had got.

That vehicle is a 2023 and mine is a 2022 if the parts are the good that they are never needed, its a bit of a coincidence that two vehicles have got the same problem that are in the same dealership and are not even out of warranty.

That's two months now that my Hi lux has been off the road. I rang the dealership yesterday but nobody in the service department was available. I received a text message back ten minutes later saying sorry still no ETA on your part. What a disgrace.
