Noted fluid stains on the drive

Recommended Posts

People may be aware that I just collected the car today. Now I noticed that there are some fluid stain on my drive.

Are there any known fluid leaks on these C-HR 2.0 engines? I don't think it's oil. I touched it and it's not oil. More like water.. wonder if A/C is leaking.

Noted there are two spots of stain around 200mm in diameter...

Could just be the Aircon condensation.mine does it when air con been on, drips water from the bottom, but it's further back than right under engine. I did panic about it until my brother in law whose a ford mechanic said it was likely Aircon. Is it cold or hot and have you seen where it's dripping from??

Yes, most cars do that

An aircon system will drip clean water - that is normal. It will eventually evaporate and won't stain. Any more permanent marking will be down to the drive surface material rather than the weep of condensation.

Stains would be due to oil, hydraulic fluid or coolant - and you've discounted oil. If it really is a stain you'd need to look carefully at where it is coming from / landing in relation to the parked car.

@philip42h Thanks for your reassurance.

However, I will drive the car again today with no AC on and see if the drips still present. Will report back. Cheers.

if it is centre of the car, it's the A/C drain, if it has climate and you put the front demister on it also turns on the A/C to clear the screen quicker

Might also have been morning dew dripping off the car; My car's had  a lot of that recently, albeit it drips more around the car rather than underneath it, except under the scuttle panel (I guess it runs off the windscreen and down there?)
