Daytime running lights: one light off

Hey guys,

I think one of my DRLs has burnt off. Has any of you ever replaced it by yourself or should I take it to Toyota as it says in the owners manual? I have an 2011 Auris hybrid. I'm just hoping that if I take it to the dealer they aren't going to charge me £400 to replace a LED since I think the bumper has to come off.

I'm trying to find info in the internet if anyone has replaced it before but can't seem to find anything.

Thanks,

Samuel.

I believe its the whole headlight which will be replaced, as the led drl is an integral part. Yes, the bumper will need to come off.

No mate,

no need to take bumper off and no need to take the car to Toyota.
You need to remove one plastic cover and get access behind and below the light. There are two screws holding the light unit in place. Check wires first if you get voltage, check the light itself and if confirm faulty look eBay for used one from a broken car. It will be much cheaper and original.
One of these needs detach from the rest , no need to pull bumper. I had an accident with an animal and needs to sort it out. Just look under the car , the panels with red arrow marked on pic.

its very typical to change the light there. The Auris 2 has foglight there. The DRL is part of the main headlight. You can buy Valeo parts in Autodoc, it is identical to OEM

Thanks Tony, just wanted to check if anyone had already replaced them and how they did it. Pictures are good, I'll see when I can try it out. From your pictures I see it's not even necessary to remove the wheel arch cover? Nice. Do you remove the bottom cover in the first picture, the bottom red arrow?

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Yes, it’s like a triangle shaped and it’s been fitted with screws and plastic clips, screws might be rusted so be patient and careful with them.
In my case was an accident repair as shown on pictures and I didn’t removed anything, just moved them and worked around to put back drl and fog light back in, and then fix the covers , put new clips and clip back bumper.
Here the screw holes shown on picture
