Shorter EV Cat 2 7.4kw lead.

Hi guys can anyone recommend a reliable source for  a short Cat 2 7.4kw say 3m cable for my CHR PHEV Design manufactured July 24. The current lead is at least 5m long  and possibly longand I am constantly struggling with it when coiling and uncoiling it to  mount it on the garage socket and hanger.

Amazon has a huge choice but most of them look cheap and nasty Chinese rubbish. One source seems to be Tough Leads of Leeds so has anybody  heard of this establishment or purchased any of their  products ? Grateful for any advice.

It's just a copper cable, as long as the copper is appropriately thick for the current and properly insulated it should be fine.

I can't recommend anywhere as such but for an online purchase:

• Voldt do 2m and 4m cables in blue
• EV-extras do 1.8m and 3m cables in green

Just pick your length / colour ...

Once I get my charger installed, I will do exactly the same - I just need to be able to measure the actual length that I will need. The lead supplied with the bZ4X supports three-phase charging so is way over-spec'd for a domestic 7.4 kW charger. A single-phase lead will be much more manageable (and storable). I don't know what is supplied with the C-HR PHEV but it may be similarly over-spec'd for domestic use.

Hi Guys 

I enclose the results of my cable find and its in  blue being a Type 2 EV 32 amp 7.4kw 5M cable (see pics) from Tough Leads based in Somerset. The yellow "snake" is the Toyota CHR Design PHEV original. 

Oh and what a difference its much lighter and shorter (5M) lead when compared to my original which  is in excess of 10m  length. It felt as if it weights a "ton" and with my  arthritic thumbs it was very uncomfortable to handle and it was like trying to wind up an "live anaconda" into a circle so I could hang it on the hook in the garage now its oh so easy thoroughly recommended. The supplier shipped next day via DPD.
