Diesel EGR Valve

[ROBINHOOD]

2013 Avensis D-Cat, Automatic, 80,000 Miles.

Engine noisy following Injector replacement. New Injectors registered but not confirmed (OBD meter limited functionality).

Short Pilot Training sequence OK but long one did not complete.

Removed, cleaned EGR valve with plastic scraper, paintbrush, and Brush Cleaner.

Removed black plastic top, extracted motor (can be done), ran motor several minutes in both directions.

Moved plastic gear wheel half a turn, cleaned all electrical contacts and pins.

Re-assembled, replaced, ran car for a while, topped up coolant to replace inherent loss.

Got the Long Pilot Training to run at last (only once, subsequent attempts fail to begin).

Engine is quieter and seems to do a couple of MPG better.

Still not convinced it should not be even quieter.
