Car Deer Scarers?

Quite some years ago now, on the main road where we used to live I saw a golden Labrador run across the road in front of a Reliant Robin 3-wheeler.  The Reliant hit the dog, and then seemed to bounce around for a bit before becoming steady again.  The dog appeared to have gone into a crouch, then shook itself as if it was shedding water, and then simply trotted on its way.  I think the driver felt more shaken than the dog.
