Hiace Jumbo 1999 roof leaking advice

I'm hoping to find an answer to a leak my van has and can't seem to find the source. Water appears somewhere above the top of the windscreen on the left hand side.  I have thoroughly proven it's not the windscreen seal and have found water inside the rail above the front left door.  I also found a few holes inside the left gutter where a few small rust holes had formed.  I thought I had it sussed and derusted inside the gutter and added some recommended sealant all along the gutter.  Still leaks! Has anyone else had a similar issue and can make any suggestions of where it's coming from?  Water drips when the van is not moving and its raining heavily or going downhill not uphill.  Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Many thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,Since you ruled out the windscreen seal and sealed the gutter, take a look at the roof rails or any accessories your Hiace might have. Sometimes water can sneak in through screw holes or gaps around the mounts, especially if the seals are worn out. Also, give the side window seals a once over for any gaps or damagethey might need resealing.

Check the A-pillar drainage channels by the windscreen too. If they’re clogged or damaged, water can end up inside the van. Even though you've sealed the gutter, it’s worth taking a look at the roof gutters and drainage paths for any hidden rust or blockages, using a torch to spot any moisture or trapped water. The windscreen trim can sometimes trap water, which might flow down the pillar inside.

Don’t forget about the air conditioning drain pipes. If they’re misaligned or blocked, they could cause leaks. Use a hose while keeping an eye on the interior should help you track down where the water’s coming in.👍
