How to disable 2009 1.33 VVT-i Yaris TR auto door locking?

Hi,

My 2009 Toyota Yaris 1.33 VVT-i TR recently locked itself with my keys inside it... (Not in the ignition)

I wondered if there was a way of turning off or disabling this feature some how?

That's a bit tricky - To my knowledge the Mk2 doesn't have auto door locking! :confused1:

The only time my Mk2 (And Mk1 for that matter) would lock themselves was if I unlocked them but didn't open any of the doors within a certain period of time (Usually just slightly shorter than the time it takes to have a chat with a neighbour ).

Aye, the Tsport locks itself if unlocked on the key button, and no doors opened within 30 seconds.

To the OP , are your spare keys locked inside the car too and locked out,or are you thinking ahead to prevent this happening?

I keep the spare keys in a pudding basin with all sorts of other keys that I can't remember what they belong to.

Sounds to me more of a fault than a feature.

You could lock the car with a window open a crack, then unlock it and chuck the keys inside without opening a door. 30 secs later it relocks.

But who's gonna do that?

I did own a 2010 Mk2 Yaris D4D TR which most definitely didn't have auto door locking other than that which Cyker describes.

I wouldn't think the 1.33l would be any different?
