My First (and hopefully last) Relax Warranty claim

I recently had a Adblue issue with my 2016 Landcruiser, I did my first 8k miles without having to refill.

Shortly after my service it started ticking at first underneath the car and at first did not see an issue. Then I had a warning saying that i only had 1200 miles of adblue left, refill with adblue. I thought this was strange and put it down to them not refilling it. So it was topped up.

On our way to Austria the notice again came up, 1200 miles before the car needs topping up. So we decided to drive a futher 600 miles and get to a dealer and get more adblue (good idea to get Toyota adblue, just in case it affects any claim). A further 700 miles and the notice came up again. By this point we were a few hundred miles from the UK.

Took the car in to Snows Bournemouth who checked it and it came back with a P202d Code "Reductant leakage"  and pressure tested the pump, they felt it may be the pump that had issue.

This was a scary £3K job.. almost fell of my chair. But then I remembered that I had a relax warranty with the car as it was serviced at the dealers. I have always been sceptical about the Relax Warranty scheme and thought that somewhere along the lines they will find a way to deny my claim. The dealer (Snows Bournemouth) was really good about it and came back saying as long as the urea pump had a limit of 69K miles on the car then it can be claimed on the warranty. Luckily my car only had 62K miles. But for the claim to go through it needs to have another engine light to come on to prove its a fault.

I drove a further 400 miles and noticed exhaust tip was slightly white and sent it back to the dealers, the day before in went in to the dealers the engine light came back on and was good enough to warrant the claim.

This morning I picked up the car with its new Urea Pump..

So wanted to put in a positive note about Relax scheme. May not work for everyone, depending on circumstances.

I have no affiliation with Toyotas Relax Scheme but personally felt it needed a positive note said about it.

cheers bob. piece of mind for those who don't buy brand new cars and a good way for the dealers to retain customers.

Cracked open a beer and kicked back.
