Hey, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I have a Toyota Aygo that is running rough. The car won't rev above 2000rpm and has no power, so it won't even move on flat ground before dying. It no longer generates any error codes. Originally, it said the oxygen sensors, so I replaced them. Still no joy.

The car has new spark plugs, new Battery and freshly serviced

Check and see if the Catalytic converter were clogged.

Also, do a pressure test on the cylinder if you can (to rule out engine damaged)

did the car run fine prior to the service & the sensor replacement?

Sounds like a blocked exhaust undo the front pipe from the bottom of the cat, shine a torch up the cat use a bar an see if the honeycomb is loose start the car and see if it revs, if not remove the top o2 sensor and start it

you don't say what the issue with the o2 sensor, they may have been the symptom not the cause, what leads me to believe the cat has collapsed

A BM CAT is cost effective at £130

thanks for the reply, everyone. The car had been sitting for probably 5 months, but I ran it every week. There is plenty of pressure coming out of the exhaust at the tail pipe.

Yes, but when I drove it up to the mot centre, I noticed it was extremely underpowered. Like really struggling to get to 50 mph.

Have you filled up with new petrol before starting and driving. 5 months without use and assuming it was filled up with e10 regular petrol the tank might have some water at the bottom.
Another thing is that of you have been starting up and let it run for less than 20-30 min each time there is a risk of blockage in your catalytic converter too.
Have you checked the air intake , the filter etc. Throttle body and the sensor on the intake manifold. These needs to be cleaned then start and try and for a peace of mind buy wynns catalytic converter and lambda sensor cleaner and add to the tank in max 30 Ltr. Fill up with fresh fuel e5 99 max 30 Ltr and take the car on a motorway drive of continuous 40 min drive at 60mph amd do few harder accelerations when the car allows you to do.

Does it sound like it is running on all cylinders, and can you hear any misfires?

if it's not the exhaust, pull the air filter and see if it revs someone may have set up home in the airbox

update took the o2 sensor below the cat out car is running fine. plug a new sensor in runs terrible im guessing the exhaust is blocked somewhere on down past the o2 sensor.

It might be blocked by a peace internally. Sometimes exhaust does rust from inside and peace’s of silencers can block the flow. Perhaps a new exhaust pipes will do it for you.

the triplets have a habit of trying to spit out their backbox glass wool packing

you can always split the mid and back sections apart if it is not rusted solid

a cheap mid section and rear box is £120-150
