Is it a manufacturing defect of the outer CV Joint Boot?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post, so I would like to warmly greet everyone.

In February of this year, I became the owner of a new 2023 Suzuki Swace 1.8 hybrid (Corolla TS). After driving just 12,000 km, I discovered damage to the left outer CV joint boot while changing to winter tires. The damage is a minimal crack at the front (from the bumper side). There are no chips or scratches on the metal parts around the boot, everything is intact. The service center reported it under warranty, but they informed me that Suzuki will likely reject it as mechanical damage.

My question is, has anyone else with a post-facelift Corolla encountered this issue? In my Octavia, after 12 years of use, I never knew what a CV joint or boot was, and now I have this "surprise" with a reliability leader (even though it's a Suzuki ;)).

In summary, I would like to know if anyone has encountered this problem. Physically damaging this boot seems like a very complicated operation, and you would need incredible bad luck to damage it. Maybe that's the case for me, but I still lean towards a manufacturing defect...

Best regards to all forum users.

My partner corsa had problems with cv rubber boots, had a total of 3, first one was changed in warranty,  the second one I changed out of warranty 18 months later  but used a Vauxhall part, and when that one failed I bought a universal fit one from a accessory shop and that was still on the car when she got rid of it 10 years later.

I did find out some time later that Vauxhall had the boots changed to a different compound which stopped/reduced them from cracking as this was common on all the Vauxhall range at the time. The original Vauxhall ones where harder.

You should ask them what is defined as 'mechanical damage.'

It will be down to Suzuki to determine whether or not it is a manufacturing defect.
