Alternative Alternator

Hello all

My 1995 Estima Lucida 2.2TD RWD alternator packed in and sent my speedometer, rev counter and dash lights into chaos and with the Battery having enough charge just to keep it ticking over, when I went to close the electric window the engine cut out! 

I charged the Battery, started it up in order to check the voltage coming from the alternator (5.5v)with no problems (other than warning lights dimly lit) until the Battery runs low again and the car cuts out! 

I checked the 90amp fuse (fine), the leads and contact points to the alternator (fine) but going by the sound coming from the alternator I have a very strong feeling I best just replace it! I am living in Belarus and the chances are, if I am lucky, I will find a Previa scrapped somewhere with an alternator ready for the taken but just encase...

Are there any Alternators out there other than the Privia that will be a direct fit to the Estima or Privia? Are there any that might need a bit of adjusting (for mounting) but will do the same job (amperage, dimensions etc) or is it possible to recondition the one I have? I was told that Denzo alternators can't be reconditioned and that's the one I have!
