It doesn't like the snow, does it?

I was driving in the snow this morning - it was that wet, sticky, sort of snow and it didn't take ten minutes for a “System Stopped Front Radar Sensor Blocked Clean Radar Sensor” message to be displayed. Or more specifically, for at least three of the driver support systems to give up and report that message:

  • PCS warning light - the Pre-Collision System was out
  • Toyota parking assist-sensor OFF indicator
  • Driving assist information indicator - probably because the Parking Support Brake was out

And that's fine - I had a message to say there was a problem and a warning light (which I could look-up after I got home). But I couldn't make the messages go away - they just hogged the MID! Pressing Return cleared the message and put the Efficiency meter back onto the MID, only for one of the radar-not-working messages to come back seconds later.

Does anyone know of a way to get the car to stop nagging?

Ye.. happened to me.
take a microfibre cloth and clean off the snow and ice off the Toyota Badge at the front.
spray with de-icer.

repeat.

Yes, no, obviously we need to clear the snow when we get a chance - but that isn't necessarily possible before we reach journeys end.

It's the MID screen hogging I want to stop. Is there a "yes, I know, and I'll deal with that when I get a chance, so will you please stop nagging me about it" button? 😉

You could always turn the PCS off in the settings menu i guess.

You'd have thought it would be easy for the system to just notify you that the system is disabled until further notice due to suspected snow/ice build up. It knows the outside temperature. Or mud/debris in higher temperatures. And then go away, leaving a yellow info icon on somewhere on the dash.

In short, no I don't know of a quick way to dismiss the message 🙂
