That is a bonus unless they charge £££ to install! Is there a protection plate like the Rav for gen 1? Am considering the orange edition as my next car.

AFAIK No protection plates available for C-HR.

The tracker should be supplied & fitted free of charge plus come with a 3 year subscription included as well.

Has anybody been in touch with their dealer and had this tracker fitted yet. Will get in touch with mine shortly and ask about it. I have mailed Toyota and they have advised me to get in touch with my dealer.

I was told by Toyota my car was covered for the tracker, I have been in touch with my dealer, they have now booked it in for this to be fitted

So am I right to say that its still going to be every bit as vulnerable but just you might be able to recover it, or that if they add a few tracker stickers it may put a thief off?

Given it didn't come out of the factory with this I assume then every future insurance quote has to declare a modification?

I got an answer from toyota uk to say only the rav4 gets plates but ALL models are eligible for the tracker.

It's better than nothing, though not stopping the CAN attack.

On another note, can you guys tell me what capacity 12v Battery is on the gen 1 & 2 hybrid. Tia.

C-HR is susceptible for CAN Bus attack like non-PHEV RAV4? Which models are vulnerable, from what year?

Those with keyless entry and start, prior to around October 2022 ...

I have my CHR booked in next week for a warranty repair wher the drivers side  wing mirror doesn't fold down after its rained. They are replacing the motor (1 hoir in workshop)

They told me, at the same time, they would fit this anti theft tracker free of charge at the same time. About 2.5 hours in  the workshop.

So half a day without the car, but I get a loaner for free, this time I'll remember to take my driving licence.

I've got a 22 plate, registered in March 22. It's a 1.8 design. Is this susceptable to the canbus theft. It's going in early next month for a service, replace 2 alloys and the DCM upgrade if it is I'll ask them to do this at the same time.

Highly likely it is - you can confirm with Toyota customer services via asking the question on the link below.

Being as I get my 2018 CHR 1.2 excel on Monday I assume it's a first gen and does it need or qualify for the tracker.

I finally got a reply from Toyota. Apparently my '23 reg C-HR is not susceptible to CANBUS theft, so no Toyota tracker for me.

But what was the build date as shown on the Certificate of Conformity? It's the actual production date that matters here (and why Toyota CS insists on a full registration number, I suspect). A car registered 07/23 could 'reasonably' have been built 09/22 or earlier.

And it's also perfectly possible that your dealer isn't quite as clued up as we might like! 😉

Found some trims dated 05/2023, seatbelts & headlamps dated 04/2023 so has to be May 2023 build date at it's earliest.

Dealer hasn't done one yet so not too clued up I guess. If they put one on with the subscription foc I won't  be arguing !

Yes, I had to give them my full registration number. I'm not too concerned, to be honest. I have my own tracker fitted.

Just logged on to the Toyota web site, put the reg no in and it says no recalls for my vehicle.

What is the DCM upgrade? Got a 21 chr so just wondering if this is something I need to enquire about!

It's a firmware update for the data control module. Not sure if pre 22 cars have it or not. It communicates with Toyota for real time maps etc.

Has anyone got any useful information about data privacy / security etc. relating to these trackers? I have had different people from Toyota dealers tell me different things including that the police have full time access to your location!

The S7 Tracker Retrieve being fitted is a passive device, it won't provide it's location to anyone until Tracker send out the signal to trigger it.

First you need to report the vehicle stolen to the Police & obtain a crime reference number.

You then give that crime reference number to Tracker & they will trigger the device, then the Police should be able to track it.
