Smart ProTect

Hi All.

Taking delivery of my new Yaris  Premiere in Neptune Blue in a few weeks, (first ever Toyota)

Being quoted £500 for Smart ProTect, read mixed opinions about this. I was wondering if DIY products from local car store would do similar job. I get I'd need to re apply every few months,

If so what would I use, some of the ceramic stuff looks good. What do people think?

Cheers

G

If that's the ceramic coating, then wow that's gone up - It was £300 for SupaGard to be applied when I was ordering mine!

I had it thrown in as a sweetener but they didn't even apply it from what I could tell, but SupaGard's customer service was much better and when I contacted them they sent someone down to apply it.

For £500 you could get a proper detailer to apply a branded product like gtechniq which would be superior. I watch some biker youtube channels and a few of them have used https://www.supremecoat.com/ to good effect (Esp. with the kinds of muddy trails they tend to go through  ) but there are loads of detailers out there who will do a better job than the dealer for that sort of money or a similar job for less.

The SupaGard on mine was okay but I wouldn't have paid £300 for it - The hydrophobic properties faded in less than a year, but it maintained some dirt resistance for nearly the 3 years they guarantee it for - For instance I've noticed bird poop has been increasingly difficult to remove as it's worn off. When it was fresh I could just blast it with water from my squeezy water bottle and it'd just slide off, but now I need to soak it a bit first.

You should be bale to get your dealer to do ProTect for substantially less e.g. £300

Some dealers do a "Gold" package which is Dashcam install & ProTect for £599/699 (can't remember which atm).

As per Cyker if you decide that you want it but they won't budge for  £500 I would definitely take it to a professional detailer for Gtechniq or similar ceramic.
