Maintenance

Hello people,

My 2016 Aygo has a full Toyota Service history, is now at 82k miles and will be due a service in February or at ~87k.  I have a service plan covering 2 more services. 

I was looking at the my Toyota app and specifically the service section and saw there was extra maintenance items you can get done, such as coolant drain & refill, spark plugs, gearbox oil, brake fluid.. aircon service,  cabin filter.. 

How often should these extra bits be done? and are any of them actually done at any of the services? Or is my aygo running on the original plugs, coolant, brake fluid, gearbox oil etc? (It’s only ever been serviced by Toyota by the book)

If you find the service schedule it'll tell you what the service life is for those items and when they get changed, according to Toyota. 

As an example, on my Motorbike one year (6k miles) the service is only oil & filter. The next service is oil & filter, air filter, spark plugs, valve clearances, final drive oil, brake fluid (2 years), 

For a Car the normal/standard life is along the lines of;

Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years - it's hydroscopic and degrades with use

Coolant - 5 years. Along with the waterpump & thermostats. Best to change all at once to ensure longevity and efficient cooling. (IMO - its how i tend to keep my Cars maintained)

Aircon service - 5 years (or before if the air is not blowing as cool as it should)

Spark plugs - 20k miles (IMO)

Cabin filter - annually

Gearbox oil - for a manual box 50k miles

There should be some information in the front of the service book.

Toyota Intermediate service 1 year/10,00 miles - oil and oil filter.

Toyota full service (every 2 years/20,000 miles)@ should include brake fluid change, cabin filter, air filter, etc.

Spark plugs at 6 years/60K

First coolant change at 10 years/100,000 miles, and thereafter 5 years/50,000 miles.
