well after having the car for a year I never managed to get the remote climate to work. Today I just thought I would try it again. Clicked on the icon and it came up with all new control options like temp, duration, front rear and mirror heating. Before it just had a single option which was on.

And I have to say it was so nice this morning as it was -2 frozen and early morning to get into a warm defrosted car.

So not sure when there was an app update for either or perhaps something Toyota end changed. Just hope it stays working now.
