They hit another car after mine so it's 2 words against 1 ideally

You might be liable for the damage to the third vehicle...he tried to avoid your car and struck someone else?

I have the report number and they advised me to leave the scene, I just let them deal with it.

Deal with what? Has the other driver been charged with a driving offence...this could possibly help your case?

No, after they hit me they moved left and hit the other car. They didn't try to avoid. I don't even know if they could have with the speed and conditions. I don't see how I'd be viable for the third car. It was to the left parked up and a bit forward from my starting position.

They didn't just gently tap me, I can understand that in snowy conditions - cars gliding and sliding everywhere, but it wasn't that. The impact in the car should hopefully highlight that.

Police were talking mainly to the people in the car that slammed into me. They wanted an ambulance because one of the ladies in the back passenger seat was shook up quite a bit. In terms of dealing with it, I meant I didn't want to go to the police accusing them of no insurance - I'll just let my insurance sort that out. If somehow they deem it 50/50, I'll begrudgingly accept that.

These unpleasant moments happen to anyone at some point and as people says -“any landing is a good landing if you can walk off the plane “- any car accident is a small accident if you can walk off the car.
Who fault is it doesn’t really matter right now. What matters is the fellow member to receive support from us which he has and we are with you wishing you good luck and fast recovery both you and the car.
This Yaris is perfectly salvageable imo, but let see what insurance will tell you.

Potentially! My mate's Vito had the whole side caved in by a Micra and we thought it'd be a write-off for sure, but to our surprise the insurance company opted to repair it rather than write it off!  I still don't know how that worked out as the cheaper option as I'm pretty sure the frame rail was bent...!

It did mean he got stuck with a Ford Kuga for months though

Once everyone one is safe and sound ....fault matters, especially if there is a personal injury claim.....wouldn't want to deal with dangerous driving , or the potential loss of a licence. I don't understand as to why the police told you to leave, I think you should contact them, to find out how you stand legally...has the, (apparently dangerous) driver been charged etc.  The author made this FORUM post....for good or bad...in the cold light of day...for members to comment upon.  I, also, hope all turns out well for you.
