Is it normal for a UK two year old car to need to have it's satnav updated.? I've noticed sometimes after putting in an address it's not recognised. Is there a way of doing it without having to pay a dealer? Or if not what are the costs ? Thanks in advance.

At 2 years old in the UK you should still have at least another year, if not 2 or potentially more (depends upon what system you have etc.) of free updates. Again, in the UK, Toyota normally has 2 map updates per year (Spring & Autumn usually).

As Frosty has linked you can download updates & install manually if your car does not have over the air capability.

Pretty much the same answer except that your updates won't be available for free. There are 3rd parties that have cracked the authentication system code process so will sell you an update cheaper & they will work - but it is criminal/ ip theft if you have ethics/morals.
