Loud High Pitched Noise......

My 2 was left standing for just over 3 weeks and has now developed a loud squeek / squeal from the rear off side wheel. I think it is the brake as when I am braking it stops but that doesnt really help with spirited driving!!

Anyone recognise the symptoms, stucking caliper? disks? I dont have a clue as I am certainly NOT mechanically minded!?!?!?!?

Also, whatever this is I need to get it fixed, can anyone recommend a decent garage in Cardiff - I used a VW specialist for last 5 years :(

toyota calipers in general are known to get sticky but have you checked the brake pad thickness? it wears more on the inside than on the outside edge so you have to take the wheel off to check. Toyota also sell a caliper refurbishing kit (£30~?) which you can use to clean the pistons etc.

I got that same noise too on mine, drivers side squeak squeak init, but goes when you aplly the brake. Do the rear calipers supposed to have the little spring retainers top andbottom of the pads? Cos they got them on the front, I was just wondering, cos my rears don't. I had a sort of rumbley noise from the front of my car before, and my mechanic found the front pads were wobbling against the disc, and the spring retainers were not present at all. NE of them on the front, so had to get a set from Toyota which were 26 quid I think. Once fitted, no more noise. But I just got it from the rear now, just gotta see if I am supposed to have the retainers or not, maybe even the anti-rattle shims were left out during pad renewal.
