Does the 1000 mile breaking in oil change still exist in the modern car age?

When I picked up my car I forgot to ask the dealer as my head was puggled with all the safety acronyms being demonstrated. There is nothing in the blurb from Toyota for an early oil change.

I only ask as it was what use to be done and some mechanic on YouTube that specialises in Toyota states you should still do it.

So a question to all those with a RAV4 PHEV. Did you have a 1000 mile oil change?

No for most manufacturers an oil change around 1,000 miles is no longer required.

The last car I had which needed one was a new 1987 Nissan and that was because they used a very light oil as the factory fill.

No, I never knew that existed until recently, seems I am on a younger side of the age group 😅

Some people do and now after the big problem Toyota has with brand new engines in USA on tacoma trucks many says -“ did you see, you should listen and change your oil in the first 1000 miles”.
I worked at largest Prius fleet in London previously and non of the 300 cars ever had an early oil change or any problems at all.
The only repairs ever done on these cars outside regular service were a road accident ones, nothing else.
