Instrument cluster ODO to Km

I'll keep this as simple as possible. I have a 2004 Toyota Yaris 1.3 VVTI T3 It's the french factory model, not the japanese. Regarding the digital instrument cluster... - the SPEEDOMETER can change between mph and kmh. No problems. - but the ODOMETER reads ONLY in miles. I want to drive it over to Italy and register it there. For some crazy bureaucratic reason, they will only be able to register the car if the ODOMETER also reads in Km...which it doesn't. I know this sounds strange, but that's Italy for you. You'd think they would just convert it manually to Km but apparently they do not do this. The same car in mainland europe all have the odometer set to read in Km by default. My question is... is it possible to reprogram the instrument cluster of my car so that the ODOMETER reads in Km? If not, if I can get a second hand instrument cluster from an italian toyota yaris and install it in mine, how would that work?? Please, any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.b
