Hi everybody,

I own a 92 Camry with 180k miles. I went on vacation and left the car sit for about 2 months. When I got back and started to drive the car, the right rear wheel drag the tire. The left tire was fine. It seem like the emergency foot brake for the rear right wheel was locked. The emergency brake seem abit loose when i press on it. Any suggestion on how to get this fixed?

try going back and forth a few times , if that fails take the wheel off thats sticking , take the handbrake off and whack the drum ,preferably with a wooden mallet,if not a wooden 1 use a steel hammer and hit a piece of wood.this should release the brake shoes for you. i say dont use a steel hammer just incase you shatter the drum, but if you are carefull use a steel hammer.

tap the caliper and the brake disc in that case , but not the disc with a steel hammer. , good luck.

Thanks, but I've taken out the pad and check on it and it seem fine. It seem to be the handbrake that 's stuck. But I'm gonna go out and whack it a few time.

are these the winding back type calipers , i dont think hitting these will free it up , you have to wind it back if its that type , when they go wrong they go wrong big style.

I'm not sure if it's the winding back type calipers. But on the right rear tire, I open the calipers by unscrewing 1 nut and it open up in order to change the pad. I try opening up the whole caliper to take out the rotor but the 2 nuts was so tight.

I had the same problem, the camry handbrake is known to stick on when left for a while. It was advised to me when going away for a while just leave it in park. I needed a new handbrake cable to fix mine aswell as new handbrake shoes as mine had worn from being stuck on. Its a fairly easy job
