Radar Detectors

Just thinking about getting a detector, but i need one that is going to work with those horrible mobile hidden cameras as well as vans etc.

Any one got one?

Your money might be better invested in a GPS system with laser and radar detection, such as the Origin B2 ;)

The government might be making radar/laser detector ilegal next year , so at least you still have the gps to help :)

My radar detector goes off at everything - speed cameras, sainsbury's, garages, tractors, nothing at all...

Mine was cheap (125 quid off ebay). Dunno if the 300+ ones are any cop, but thats a lots of money paying for something they're trying to ban...

At present its only laser/radar ;)

GPS is a completly different ball game, No false warnings, all gatsos etc are held on a DB in the unit, also picks up mobile laser units and radar (now being used in smaller numbers) (radar - optional extra)

The units I looked at were the OB2, RA1, and the micro roadpilot from £300 to £400.

Ive tried the new road angel, It seemed wierd, it was supposed to have radar detection but didnt pick much up at all,Cost £399 from Halfords and you need to subscribe at £49 per year, but all it told me was to slow down on motorways when I was doing 65mph,

Took it back and exchanged it for a Snooper S5R, it picks all laser radar detectors, so police in vans, mobile Gatsos, Gatsos ect will be detected.

It dosnt pick up trevellos or the digital ones that take a reading from one spot and then another to detetc your average speed.

It depends on your driving really, if you do lots of motorway across country then GPS one is better, if you want it for round town, picking up gatsos ect then the cheaper Snooper ones are excellent Mine was £200 from Halfords.

Edit - if thye do ban the radar detectors and you have spent £400 on a GPS/radar detector, will this be illegal to as it uses radar.

I believe that most GPs systems radar is an option, except for the snooper S6R.

In regards to banning speed camera detectors, the gps detectors will be ok, they will only ban the lazer/radar side ofit ,

Snooper S6r is one I would go for now, I was told road angel was best but I didnt think much to it, decided on S5r as it suits my needs for now but you never know in the future.

Hi Guys,Well i work for Ripspeed and we have had no problems with the new road angel,I will say this the top snooper and the road angel are the only ones to go for coz and mentioned in an earlier post everything else is being banned as off around about april 2005.

Have the Origin B2 here since it was installed at JAE, has been great, have done a few thousand miles and the only false alarm I got was one of those traffic light cameras where it warned me I was being hit with a laser, every other alert has been spot on and I must have done a couple of thousand miles since JAE, has saved my life a few times :)
