Still Waiting

Has anyone had experience of having their Prius order delayed?

I called up last week, having placed an order back in early July, and having been told delivery at the end of September. The dealer told me that due to things 'being busy' the date had been pushed back to the second week of October, but did say it was worst-case date.

How much notice do dealers get of cars arriving? I have about 5 weeks to go and still nothing: no call to discuss reg plates or insurance.

I'm quite a patient guy, but even this waiting is testing my nerves. Does anyone know of any spare T4s around?

Sorry for the rant, but I had bad experiences with call centres and over-the-phone services recently...

Hi there,

We ordered at the beginning of May and were told 12 -14 weeks. Our dealer said he would rather be upfront about the delay as it only leads to bad feeling otherwise.

The dealer knows when the car ships, allow 3 to 4 weeks on the boat and it could be another week after it lands before you get it.

Keep pestering them.

Hang on in there matey, it will all be worth it in the end. The pleasure in owning this car is enormous. It's always a talking point with friends and colleagues. It's draws responses from people when you explain how your car is different from anybody elses. It surprises people that you can drive past them without a sound (ev mode). In fact it's just an all round fantastic car. Plenty of gadgets to play with also. The bluetooth, the economy, the.... on an' on...

But the time can't pass fast enough. My work colleagues have been seeing my pained expression these past few days, and of course they're interested when I explain that my Prius has been delayed. Everyone wants to line up and have a ride when I get it!
