Door Speakers And 6x9's

Long time no hear !

Am on the lookout for a decent pair of door Speakers for yari.

Yesterday I replaced the dash Speakers with Pioneers and am very impressed by the upgrade even though I still have the OEM player which I think I'll keep so that the dash remains integrated : I have the Sony mp3 changer as well which works well through the adapter.

Can someone recommend me a decent pair of door Speakers £100 ish ?...

I'm also looking at getting some 6x9's for the rear shelf (is there a sticky or howto) ?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can give.

What size are the standard Yaris (T-Sport phase one if it matters) front door Speakers?

Also can you fit larger ones say: 6.5" (17cm) with some work? Cause I'd love to fit Alpine Components Type R in them.

you can get 6.5s in but its not a walk in the park......

Oooooooooooohhhh

Just bought a pair wish me luck !.......

Now how do I get the door panel off ? (Guess this is gonna be the easy part of the install) - Is there a howto around ?

oooooh - didn't know you could get one of those for the standard stereo - anyone know where I can get one from (and how much they cost)?

Cheers.

Following on from the original post I have a similar question, how easy is it to get the original door Speakers out and how much room is there? I'm asking as I have some infinity reference 10cm that I would like to put in the Yaris but the magnets on the are huge!

Cheers

to remove door card.......

remove 2 screw under handle and in bottom of other handle

at a pillar end twist two clips 90 degrees and pull out

get hold of bottom of door and just pull away (held on with clips)

move up the height of the door doing this

lift the door card away from the top of the door skin

put your hand round the back and disconnect switch panel

remove speaker......

drill out rivets using 1/8th drill

remove speaker and unplug

throw speaker over hedge

youll now need to experiment by using an mdf ring to mount your new speaker and i use a washer or two between the door skin and mounting ring to aid clearance for the speaker magent and window mechanism

just a case of trial and error till you get it right

Fairly standard then, doesn't sound too bad. Will have to just hope the magnets aren't too big, they're almost as big as the magnets on 6x9's.

Cheers

Hi Jaxx,

I just opened up the R-Type box and they do look sweet ;)

Before I start you mentioned fudging it a bit with some mdf : What size was the mdf m8 ? (Thickness / Inner circle diameter / Outer Circle Diameter).

I guess the mdf is gonna be a mandatory ?
