Hey guys,

New person here. Just got back from Japan with the Glanza V in my handluggage, but someone from an SVA centre has inserted a catalytic converter into it which is strangling the performance.

Does anyone know of a good place which can supply a fabricated high-flow cat and housing? If not, I shall do some study on my own and see what I can come up with. I'll let you know if I find out anything interesting.

Cheers,

Neil

P.S. apologies if you've read similar posts on every other Starlet mailing list in the world.

Starletsy, Sorry I haven't e-mailed you yet. Got that laziness thing going on. I think it's terminal

For MoT reasons you shouldn't need a cat at all. The Glanza should have one as standard in the downpipe.

 Thats ok mate

As for the cat Andrew is right but there are places that do high flow cat's i just fit mine when it's MOT time then run with the De-cat all the other time

Andrew,

The only cat on my car is the one in the downpipe. This is the one which is causing the problems. Ideally, I would like to replace the entire downpipe with a new one containing a high-flow cat.

If anyone knows of a company which can do this, please let me know. Otherwise, I will call my local exhaust specialist and see what he can do.

Cheers,

Neil

Why though mate just get a de-cat pipe then put the cat back in for MOT

Sy,

Do you have some wacky quick-release for your cat, or do you remove the radiator and go through all that hassle once a year? It doesn't look like a nice job, especially since you have to do ait all in reverse again after the test.

How long does it take you for the swap?

Cheers,

Neil

No need to remove the rad mate all i do is unbolt it, it take me about 1 hour it isn't that hard at all.

what are the insurance implications of running around without a cat?

say if your car passes its mot and you drive it home, take the cat off and potter around for a bit. then suddenly out the blue you drive into somebody, will yr insurance company pay up? cos your car technically is in an unroadworthy condition (failing emissions).

Because the Starlet Turbo was never imported to the UK, the MoT testers do not have to do all the emission tests. A Starlet Turbo will therefore pass the MoT without a catalyst being fitted.

They still have to meet a basic emmissions test though Andrew which mine failed without the cat
