New Wheels & Springs

Hey guys,

Me and two mates spent from 11:30am till around 7:30pm fitting my new springs and wheels! Ok, so it took a long time, but it was worth it and you learn a little by doing it.

The car is now lowered (by -30mm Eibach's) on 16inch alloys and wow! it looks fantastic!

I would like the thank Envy for the springs and good service. And Jaxx for that fantastic little How-To as without that we'd probably still be there doing it.

I'll get some pics tomorrow when its light again!

As your Gold you should get em for £132 from Envy + P&P which came to I think £143.

The first front side took hours, but then the second side took 30minutes. There were a few issues with undoing the bolt at the top of the ram (as the whole thing would just turn we had to clamp down the metal ring at the top - above the rubber). And getting the bolts that join the hub and strut back in was a pain - but as long as there is two of you, you should be alright.

The rears were easy, it was just trying to compress down the springs enough to move them in and out which took a bit to figure out.

No missing fingers, no cuts or bruises! My mate said it was ten times easier than his car.

Looks sweet!

What a day that was! We mostly stood around while our mechanically minded mate did most of the work ;)

Here's some pics I grabbed with my phone (hence dodgy quality).

Have to say though, it looks the dogs b0110cks now :D

Need to give them time to settle, and my drives not very even. I'll get some proper pics tomoz! But don't really wanna go lower, scared of it scaping as it is!

To be fair the pics don't do it justice. It looks a lot better once it's settled down. I think you'd struggle to get it any lower without modifying the arches anyway.

When I get some pics you should be able to see wot yours will look like with 50mm drop (as mine is a TS so 20+30). Obviosuly your alloys are smaller but the overal diameter is the same.

Tbh 30mm won't be enough for you. Can you get 50's?

Thats the thing, biggest I can find is 40 and I really don't want 2 go down the GMAX route!

TEIN are around -35ish and Eibach are around -30, think I'll fone Envy again wen Kevin gets home and see if he can find anythin bigger! He has alot of selection but mostly -30, RS*R, HKS and most others are -30! :crybaby:

Well just get as low as you can. Even if they are a cheap brand it doesn't matter too much. Lets be honest, its not a racecar so i'm sure any brand will be fine.

I know they are made by H&R but I can't read the rest! Give us a low-down on what it says mate!

Cheers

I think it's 30mm all round...

I think there is a difference in different springs, cos i have sat in a car with Eibach and its defo a softer ride, maybe because it's only dropped 30mm... hmmm.
