Why does,nt the CTS get the recognition it deserves?

Its not till i get people in my car that they realise how fast it is.

if its not a type r nobody is intrested, and to be fair with a bit of attention to detail the corolla

looks better!

It's better that the less fortunate don't know about the CTS.

Then when you see them disapearing from your rear view mirror you will have a smug look of satifaction knowing they don't know what just happened.

Keep it in stealth mode! The less people know the better, IMO.

Similar to the YTS, so soon as people catch on to how good it is, it may become the next Saxo/Corsa :crybaby:

Maybe cos its not that fast mate, alrite its fast but not Type-R pace!

it might not be as fast but its certainly not that far behind,

The qouted figures are know where near actual figures.

Realistically 0-60 is achievabl in around 7.5secs,

Having driven a Type R and now owning a CTS I know which one I would choose.

So do I :P

In the real world the Civic beats the Corolla in most areas, having owned both I would have to say I much more perfer the Honda.

Sorry

VSC is a good reason to preffer CTS. It is rather better to listen to its pip-pip sound frequently than depending only on your hands to regain control on a unbalanced fast car.

CTS can also have 4 doors and look as "sporty" as the 3d car.

I think I would rarther have a good handling car than ESP to be honest, as its a weekend toy it really does not bother me! Also Recaro seats and momo steering wheel are nice little touches!

Not too knock the Civic Type R which is a very good car, even considered buying one myself, but i have to admit my CTS which is my business car, is a great all round car, quite subtle.

Engine has to be the best feature of the car, i heard people say the CTR is a more driveable engine but how can you top the lift in the engine, when i take people a spin in the car they love the noise, only critisim has to be the handling of the car, not realy sporty at all, but then there are plenty of mods to improve that.

Me and my girlfriend have just ordered in a clio sport 182, which i think will keep a CTR honnest, just such a good deal, say the CTS is good value for money, if feel you get the both of both worlds.

Ross,

I take it by what your saying is that there are to many around? There are only 100 30th Anniversary Civic Type-R’s in silver and one of them is mine, doubt you will see many of them around!

In my own opinion I am starting to see a lot more CTS’s around than I use to, maybe because they are fast becoming a performance bargain! Good insurance group as well!

Nick

Not sure how fast the old Accord Type R is but I could keep up with one in 2nd and 3rd gear the other day. Think he was a bit miffed why he couldn't pull away from a Corolla

As nice as the CTR is to drive (and yes I agree its quicker than a CTS ;) ) I personally wouldn't get one as they are too common - the limited edition still looks the same from the outside doesn't it?

Well depends if you know what your looking at as the 30th AE has the following over the standard car:

Red Carpets

Red Recaro's Seats ( Can See These From The Out Side )

Momo Steering Wheel

Black Glass For Rear Three Windows ( Can See These From The Out Side)

JDM Red Woven Type-R mats

30th AE Sticker in The Rear Window

Hey guys dont get me wrong I love the CTS, dont forget I owned one for over a year and a half! Just I feel the CTR is a slightly better car for my taste!

Nick

Red Carpets

Blllliiiiiiinnnnggg! :D

Glad to see you are delighted with your new car, Nick! :D Every day! :D

And let me tell you that I admire your nerves of steel that let you repeatedly big-up the Honda in this Corolla forum :lol:

Cheers

If toyota had released the Tsport with 17/18 inch Rims, Bigger more noticeable rear Roof spoiler, lower suspension straight from the factory. People might have taken to the cts a little better.

I like the fact people don't know too much about the tsport, when you have to go to a not so nice neighbourhood, only the clued up car fanatic kids will notice it, lo-key can be a good thing (sometimes).

And when I finally save enough to get mine the insurance won't sting me like the CTR.

Keep the CTS quiet. (at least till I get mine in maybe 4 or 5 mo...years )

Its not all just about performance is it though, I had a real dilemma when looking at cars and quite frankly compared to my little Honda CBR600 all the cars i drove, Seat Cupra R, MG 160, Civic Type R and the T Sport are all pretty poor performance wise, I would say the Civic was the most Hardcore and in some ways most like a motorcycle in its power delivery, the Seat was almost as quick but I personally didn't like it that much (looks mainly), the MG was a suprise drive but soooo basic inside and would be worth about 20p in 3 months time, and for me the corolla had the best bits from them all,and i would say better value, I've opted to wait for the new one (Oct) for the better handling, plus the fact I've had a Yaris SR for the last 2 years and its been totally trouble free swung me towards the corolla...

Although I do have to say I do like the Civic and if it wasn't for the fact this practically needs to be a family car I probably would have purchased the Honda...

The CTS regognition problem really starts from Toyota. The face lift became known when the 5d CTS was only ~1 year in the market!

Compare this with how many years the Focus ST170 is in the market.

In my opinion, there has been a confusion in Toyota's marketing and engineering targets related to CTS: sport-family-sport-family... and finally they made a car with critisism that influences the decisions of Toyota. I expect many sportier CTS versions to follow frequently in next years, until Toyota launches a real CTR competitor!

This makes CTS a very bad purchase as new car. After 1 year, I was offered by Toyota only 65% of its price to exchange it with another Toyota car. Unbelievable!

And whats different from this to any other car manufacturer.

I exchanged a mazda for cts and was offered about same, (I bought mazda new) from mazda dealer.

They will all tell you that the car will hold value but in reality they never do from new.

Best bet is to do what I did this time and buy one 6 months old, comes with remainder of 3year warranty and its run in already. And once you have driven it off forecourt it hasnt just lost £2000
