Okay, I have an 11 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Benson.

For the past 2 years one of his gonads has swolen to about 4 times the normal and is rock hard (Probably too much detail).

The vet says it is probably a tuma but as it has been like this for 2 years it is not too serious. It is not causing him any discomfort (other than carrying it around) and he is bright as a button and leads a full and active life.

More active sometimes than I would like, still chews everything his favourite is the scaffold planks out the back.

1. My dilemma is that it looks a bit unsightly as Staffs testes are quite on show and quite a few people remark about it.

2. The vet recommended having him castrated to stop any possible future problems.

3. It has been said that when a dog is castrated it effects them mentally(no sh*t)

4. He is 11 now and bright as a button, an operation now could send him downhill.

5. I don't trust vets as they have cost me a fortune in the past.

I would appreciate your thoughts and comments and hope he forgives me for broadcasting this to the world.

Poor Benson, I hope he can't read this! At his age if it's not causing him any discomfort, I'd say leave well alone.

Now moving to any post which doesn't make my eyes water.

Had my Red Setter castrated coz he was too territorial, wouldn't allow other dogs to walk in HIS street. Vet thought that it might prevent this as we had two incidents in one week. One stupid B :censor: ks got his leg between the two dogs. Ouch. I paid his Doctor's bill even though it might have been his own dog which bit him! :ffs:

End result was no major personality change. No difference, so I would have the job done for your dog's comfort. Would like to be going round with one of yours getting in the way.? If it was your W :censor: y, that would a different kettle of fish :D

If its not causing him any problems, and hes not being a naughty boy, then I wouldnt take the risk. Its seems that hes not that bothered, if hes an active doggy, so the operation could be more of a discomfort than the current issue. If he could post he would prob say" woooof leave my dangly's alone Wooopppff" :P
