Avensis Starting Problems

HELP!!!

My avensis 1.8 98 model (non vvti) has trouble starting. The ignition lights come on but it will not turn over the engine. If ignition is held on for several seconds it sometimes will turn over 2 or 3 times and then stop. It is not the Battery. I think it could be an electrical problem. Any advice or comments would be appreciated otherwise it is a trip to the garage. :(

make sure its not the Battery my mate had a simular prob with his avensis

Check the Battery has 12 volts. If it has then it could be starter motor, ignition switch or starter relay.

If you are not electrically minded, suggest you take it to a sparky.

If you are midlands based I will take a look at it for you.
