Yeah 3g are recommended by most gt drivers, they use Brembo castings and are not prone to cracking like black diamond. A lot of people suggest mintex pads with 3g brakes as 3g dont make pads, hope this helps toby.

p.s centre bore diameter for starlet uk spec is 35mm and gt or glanza is 34mm i think, CBD needed if ordering discs from 3g.

Where can i get 3g then people???is a phone call needed or do some places sell 3g stuff?

3G is only 110 quid for the fronts i think, that's what iam getting.

Here's the link to where iam getting it from

Brake disc

But still finking whether i should get the original brake pads from toyota or somewhere else??

theres an official 3g website. Type 3g into google and you''ll find it.

do they just do the pads as my discs are fine

Posted

they do do pads, ebc and mintex i think? But if you cant find any there just ge a copy of gary tweeks and they can supply them, stick with mintex if i were you.

for pads I would try ebc greenstuff, had good results so far.

My personal favourite is ferodo ds2000, but you can't get them for starlet.

personally I'd steer clear of 3g brakes. My mate who has a corolla gti, put 3g brakes on about 3 months ago, after 4500 miles his fronts have cracked and he thinks his backs are warping.

although, having said that as toby mentioned. a lot of people have cracked black diamond brake discs.

ok well i will see what i can do people thanks for the help...again i always need help.

so whats the different in color wise in the EBC? I got the green ones in at the moment, have to change them cos of my brakediscs need changing :crybaby:

So whats the part number for the greenstuff pads????i just fancying a selection to choose from. HOw much are these ones then???and how much are 3g pads???

Posted

ebc

black is just normal dog crap (equivalent to ferodo target, minted cheapskate etc)

green is the fast road pad (equivalent to ferodo ds2000, mintex G9 - think)

red is for track use

Posted

I think the red pads are harder and the green ones are softer. not sure though thats just what i have heard

Posted

Ebc part number is DP2453 for greenstuff, 3g do not make pads

Posted

Can i get greenstuff pads from my local motorspares???how much

Posted

Should cost around just a little over £40

Posted

what size are those 3g front discs? can you get them a little bigger than normal for like a 15" rim? an whats with the abs- abs+ diddnt think starlets had abs?

Posted

238mm is pretty much standard for starlet early ones had 229mm apparently but even a P reg one i've seen had 238mm discs.

captain starlet, you would need to change your caliper to allow bigger brakes to fit, if you get the hubs and calipers off a carina then you can do a big brake conversion.

AFAIK no starlet in the UK has ABS, but on the fusebox there is a place marked for the fuse.

have a nice day
