Just looked at my front tyres to find that they have worn out on the outsides i know it’s the tracking but i only had it tracked in Jan 2003 and has done 7k is this normal.

Also the alloys have started to corrode up anyone else have this problem?

what replacement tyres should i put on as i find the oe crap in wet they just wheel spin too much.

I thought about getting some Michelin EXALTO or the GoodYear F1-GSD2

what u all using apart from having larger alloys etc.

thanks

Goodyear F1's are supposed to be amazing for grip although not the best wearing tyre :)

I'm running Bridgestone P6000's on the rear and Goodyear NCT 5's on the front, very happy with the Bridgestone as a number of MR2 owners have used them, only reason for the NCT 5's on the front was I got 2 of them new for £20 each.

All the best

Ryan

Ye i also had that problem with my alloys corroding but i took them back to toyota and they replaced them under my warrenty.

Also ive just fitted some yokohama a539 tyres to my ts and they make the car feel like its got glue on the tyres and there also quite cheap at £35 a corner.

go for the F1's. I had them on my corolla and they will shock you. Also they are great in the wet.

the tyre wear could be due to ur tyres being soft ?? i just got a set of 17" OZ racing SuperT's 4 my corolla t-sport, boys and girls, these look devine if ur thinking of upgrading ur ts wheels

  • 3 weeks later...

Had my alloys fitted today thank god. :)

The tyres are better than the Bridgestone’s I can now accelerator at full revs with out the !Removed! thing slipping the only thing I don’t like about them is that they seem to breakaway bit more when corning maybe getting it lowers might help.

Also I need some advise my steering wheel judders at 70-80mph I have had the car balance twice and have had the alloys replaced as above the problem was apparent before I had new alloys and tyres.???

The only thing I can think of was a report of a Lexus having the same problem and was down to a faulty shock absorber??

Any ideas???

Oh and has anyone had problems breaking at high speed 90-0

I have twice had bad break fade. :o

thanks

Sounds like you should seriously get that car checked by Mr. T...

If you've got new wheels that have been balanced you shouldn't get shuddering, check pressures...

Could be suspension....

Hi

Checked the tyre pressures and they are set to what is in the glove box

29 front 30 rear for two passengers I normally set it to 30 31

Mind you the rears are wearing on both the outsides of the tyres as thou they are under inflated they did that on the other one too.

check the suspension or try increasing the tyre pressure a bit on each side...

you shouldn't be wearing the outside tyres that quickly so would defo check the suspension first

toyota said they would swap my wheels too.

Booked in on the 4th June. Hopefully the wheel problem won't happen again.

  • 1 month later...

Aggggghhhh Well it's taken over a month to get my 4 New alloys to replace the pitted ones.

I also had two new front type put on at the same time....even though I could get them half the price at a non-toyota garage but though hey....it's toyota...they know what they aredoing...they won't damage my nice new alloys...how wrong could I be... Drivers side front has an inch long "scrap" on the rim caused by the "tyre machine" when replacing the tyres...I dunno!!!! They said that the tyres were very difficult to get on...say what..... I had the same Bridgestone potenza's put on...so no excuse really. So they are ordering me yet another alloy....hopefully not another month wait....but we'll see..... aggghhhh
