Yaris Gearbox Oil Change

Hi All,

has anyone else had problems after changing their gearbox oil. I changed the oil in my 1.0GS last year with genuine Toyota 75W-90 and the gearchange became very poor. The dealer later changed it again for ATF, this improved matters but the change is still very chrunchy when cold and nowhere near as good

as before.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Cant comment on the change of oil, but as to the gear box itself it does have more of a 'crunch' enterin each gear, compared to the smootheness of other cars..

Oil was topped up fully after the change with the Toyota 75w-90.

Apparently Toyota Technical use ATF as a last resort to improve gearchange.

I would have been better leaving the factory fill oil in.

I changed the oil when I got the car (it had 36.000 km on it) and I used 75w-90 and I haven't had any problems... maybe it's just your gearbox?

not unusual to put atf in manual box

And what effect does that have on wear? I think it's a bad band-aid solution.

toyota put it in early celicas and carinas

That would be T40/T50/W50 series boxes then, right? Try again with 90 (and later on 75W/90) for the T's and 80W/90 for the W's weight gear oil.

Cheers, Yves.
