hey humayun your car looks arite dude for wat it is

im currently modding my sr up and was going to do the same (removing the rubber strips on the side) any chance you could post up a pic once they removed? so i know to take em off or not before it gets sprayed up. cheers

No worries mate i will get a pic up as soon as ive finished removing them. Which might be a while because it takes ages for the sticky stuff to come off.

badboy007 take a lok at mine! the sticky stuff is a real pain in the *****, go to Halfords or a carstore and ask for a caramac wheel or an eraser wheel ! It is a wheel of rubber that you put in the end of the drill and it will take the stick off but not the paint !!! Makes a rite mess mind you and dont lean 2 hard, with that it should take a total of about 1.5hrs

thanx mate i'll give that a go, the small section that ive managed to remove looks brilliant, cant wait till i get the rest off

acetone (aka superglue remover/nail varnish remover) should be able to take the silicone based sealant off, put it on and leave it for about 10 mins and it should either peel of or fall off.

im sure good old 'panel wipe' will do the trick if you wondering what panel wipe is then its the stuff you use to wipe down panels before they get sprayed up takes off almost everything from flies sticky tape that were talking about and extra paint n mess, its top stuff so if ur having trouble go down to a local spray shop or something ask him to do it for you or if not see if hes willing to lend u some panel wipe. does the trick and not a lot of messing around.

streetracer_starlet: your car looks sweet .. much better without the mouldings. next lil ideas for mine are

1. removing the pillar mounted ariel filling over and having a civic type r style on in the middle at hte rear.

2. modifying m3 mirrors to fit the sr as the standard ones are pretty much garbage lol.

3. a different spoiler .. i have one for a 51 plate almera looks quite beefy (bit like the glanza spoiler) jus hope it'll fit on now without too much messigns around.)

has anyone actually got a spoiler to fit straight on from a different car????

I have got a Saxo spoiler on mate straight fit just needed a bit of fbr glass

Mine aint been lowered just i think if i did have 50s on mine it would sit even higher. Lowering is the next step.what springs you got?My shocks need changing soon so people which ones should i get???

Posted

This guy local to me is a specialist, he made me a set of £5mm drop springs for £90. Im sure Fensport do a set for similar money. I need sum shox aswell but the aftermarket ones available are so expensive!! :ffs:

Ive taken the rubstrips off now,the drivers side was easy, it all came off easily with a couple of small patches of sticky stuff which were easy to remove The other side hoewever has come off leaving nearly all the sticky ******* behind. I will hav it sorted in a couple of days.

Over and out....

Are the side strips just held on with adhesive then? How about the badges on the rear aswell.

I'm about to buy a Starlet and don't want to remove these and find there are big holes I need filling in.

I bought the backbox from Halfords. Its a 4" carbon fibre and stainless jobbie by Ripspeed/Rage which cost £100. My local Halfords store is still sellin them, get down to yours and c if they're selling them.
