Aussie Down Pipe And Manifold... Help..

I'm in the middle of inspecting the Manifold/Down pipe etc to check for exhaust leaks..

Got the car on axle stands etc..

1. The aussie down pipe. at the bottom before it bolts on to the next piece of the exhaust, I see two holes.. The bottom hole is blanked off with a bolt, the next hole above, 15mm away or so, is open - internally threaded - should this be blanked off or should i have a emmision sensor there? i cant see any loose electrical connectors in the area - so perhaps the blanking bolt has come loose and fallen out?

2. The Manifold, 7 stud standard manifold, to the right hand side, I have soot on the engine - I am assuming either - I have a hairline crack, the gasket is shot, it hasnt been torques up properly etc.

I'm going to soak all the bolts with plusgas penetrating fluid and return at 06:30am tomorow to begin removing parts.

If I need a manifold, I need one by tuesday pm.

in any event i will need gaskets - manifold and down pipe again by tuesday pm.

any help is appreciated.

hi mate

if the open hole is the smaller of the two its for the cat temp sensor (if fitted) if its the larger one then its a second lambda sensor and will need a blanking plug. unlikely the manifold has cracked most like the gasket is shot. if the manifold has gone then fennies should have a replacement and will be able to get it to you next day

cheers mate, i'm getting a knackered lambda off the guy across the road as i cant find a plug to fit, so i'll just whack it in.

Ive been told a bit of soot isnt a bad thing, ive torqued up the nuts, they where probs around 25lb , so i set them up to 32 as should be..

doing a radiator flush and oil change today..
