I've just bought a 1995 super custom & love it! However, I'm a fairly simple low tech kind of girl & am phased by the over zestful alarm system installed on it!

I thought I'd got my head round the 1 beep for on & 2beeps for off & how to disarm it so I can mess around in & out. But then it still keeps going off, apparently randomly eg at fuel stops. & what does 3 beeps mean? & the light on the dashboard: red green amber flashing, morse code business - whats that all about then? ITS DOING MY HEAD IN! I'm sure its me & my technophobe approach to these things (why go for this kind of beast? you may well ask..)

ie. I dont think theres anything wrong with it. So how can I get my head round the 'logic' of the system? has anyone any ideas or advice? I Is it possible to disable it altogether? Is there an ABC idiots guide available? Answers in plain English if you please!

ps. any recommendations for a freestanding awning?

Hi there,

I'm assuming your Hiace is a Japanese import,

and I'm therefore assuming the alarm was fitted in the UK (very rare to have them in Japan).

In which case you should have a certificate of instalation with it, if you have then you should be able to contact a dealer for a manual.

Good luck and enjoy

Thanks for your reply. There is somebody out there afterall! The vehicle came from South Africa, so I suspect thats where it was fitted. It's still doing my head in but has been overtaken by more pressing issues, ie the fact that I pronged it fairly spectacularly on a rubbish bin yesterday. Fortunately I have a protected no claims so all will be well...
