N/a Question

Hi all,

This might sound a bit dumb but on the n/a what does the Battery meter thing actually tell you? the charge thats in the Battery or if the altonator is charging it??

Thanks.

It's the charge in the Battery, but that gives you both really. If you look when the engine is off and ignition is on it'll be lower than when it's running which shows you that the alternator is charging it.

Does that make sense, I can't seem to get it into words

should read 12v when running and approx 14v when running???

anything else than that and youve got problems....

If you turn the ignition on but don't start the engine the meter will read approx 12v, this is the charge in the Battery (it must be as the alternator isn't charging at this point).

If you then start the engine the meter will show approx 14v which indicates that it is being charged by the alternator.

but a Battery will never give more than 12v so its the charge from the alternator not the charge in the Battery, the 14v from alternator keeps engine going and any other elec items as well as charge Battery!!!
