Hi all

Im new to this forum so nice to meet you all. Im looking to purchase a Supra SZ ( non turbo from Bonsai or Group 20 imports ) Does anyone here own an SZ. Can any tell me what they are like for everyday use. I know that on twin turbo models you need really regular oil changes. is this the same on the NA model ? what are the maintenance cost like in general ? any advice would be most appreciated. Also if anyone has any positive feedback about any other importers you have had experience with. Also do most importes make sure that the car has UK spec tyers and cat's on them ? or is it a case by case thing ?

Also is there a good place to get a checklist of things I need to check before i purchase.. ie. does it have a cat, uk spec tyers

Thanks

Alex :D

Hate to sound negative but buying a non turbo supra is pointless in my honest opinion.

Kinda like going all the way to florida and not getting a tan, dressing up like Darth Vadar at a fancy dress party and leaving your lightsaber at home

Like comparing Coke to Diet Coke, Its just not the real thing by a long shot. :hokus-pokus:

Seriously, think about it. Cost the same to buy, same to insure (imports, not uk spec), both equally reliable.

Get a turbo, you'll be glad you did

Anyway back to the question. Both cars have equal oil change schedules.

There are 2 cats. If they have been both removed it will fail the mot, and as long as the car you buy has a valid mot cert its ok.

If one is removed you will notice a performance increase and it will still be road legal so dont worry about it.

Supra is not a cheap car to run, getting a B service and cam belt done soon and we are talking £500+ approx.

As long as they get serviced properly and regularly and you treat them nicely they shouldnt cause you a problem

Hi, I have an SZ, and although it obviously isn't as fast as a TT I bought it for looks as much as performance and it does look great. It has a decat exhaust and an Apexi induction kit which puts the BHP up to about 245 which is plenty it does 0-60 in less than 6 seconds which is fine for me. I suppose it depends what you want the car for. I use mine as a normal day to day car and it's got great fuel economy considering the perfermance. Mine came with Snow Tyres on it, look out for that as apparently it's quite common with imports. I got £300 knocked of the screen price because of it.

I brought a NA Supra about a month ago.

Its a beautiful car and i think you have to weight up the pros and the cons.

Firstly both NA and TT are very fine car and both are fast. TT is obviously the faster car but it depends what you want. I am quite happy with the 230 bhp and my automatic is very nice to drive and with the tagra top option ideal for the summer. Either way im sure you will love it.
