My Car Doesnt Exist

ok as some of u will know i've needed new brakes for my MOT. so i speak to kevin at envy performance and order discs and pads for my car. AE111 (supposedly). parts arrive and give them to mechanic to fit.

this is where the problems start. the discs are too big for the hub and have unsafe amount of travel. as a result they are having to go back. then he tries the pads. they are the wrong shape for the callipers. i go to a specialist and take a look at what my pads should look like, and the e111 pads in the book are the same as what i bought.

so basically i have a different brake setup to the normal AE111 model. fair do's methinks. have a look at the AE101 na d AE102 pads and they look a lot alike the pads that came off the car.

then comes the weirest bit. the model of my car is apparently the AE103, which as far as i know doesnt exist

anyone able to shedd any light on the situation?

It miay be a very rare road-going "prototype". Manufacturers often make a couple hundred cars of a type (sometimes only with minor canges from the originals) to see public reaction. This happened with my old Ford Escort. It was one of the original crossover breads between the old XR3i and the MKV. Apparently very rare and few far between. Unfortunately when it came to selling it no-one wanted to know and the best price I got for it was book on a standard 1.6

So maybe you have yourself a rareity mate  B)

I had a similar problem with my Yaris.... it needed new brake discs and pads for its last MOT.... the garage ordered 4-5 sets before he found ones that fit properly....something about it being made in Spain??? Tho the car was made in Japan according to VIN....

Also... when having the Chips and scratches redone the guy asked what paint code it was.. 580 - Flame Gold I say.. cause thats what it has one the VIN Plate....now his book says that 580 - Flame Gold only goes back to year 2000... my car is a 1999 (and I -know- they produced the 1.0l Yarii in Flame Gold before that...)...plus the colour was way to dark/yellow... in the end we managed a mix... with a special spray gun.... but it is all very strange.... I do wonder why... wish I could find out :P I know Yaz was one of the first few 1.3l Yarii.. but still.... strange....

Don;t know why.. that reminds me of when I went into Halfords for an oil filter and spark plugs for my soarer TT..... The rude little indian man there was arguing with me for about 5 mins telling me there is no such thing as a soarer, and what I have is a supra..... :ffs: :censor: little :censor: :censor:

I did offer him outside to read the Badge on the back that said "Soarer"

Reminds me of my last car. A Seat Cordoba 1.6 Coupe. I went to A SEAT dealer and even theys aid it didnt exist!

They said it was impossible as the last one they had registered was in August 98 and mine was registered 2nd Jan 99

I later found out that the bumpers on mine were the same as the 2.0 16v and the brakes had Golf mk2 16v pads and Audi 80 discs! :D One of the reasons i got rid of it was the fact no one could get parts for it! it waited 16 weeks for a lambda Sensor after 6 different ones were tried! :ffs:

Another classic was walking into my local VW dealer asking for parts for a Supercharged Polo. After the 16 yr old lad had stopped laughing and pointing out to his mate that they never made a supercharged Polo, i just ignored him and went to the manager who was old enough to remember them!
