Road Noise

Hello everyone , new to fourm.Have just got a Rav4 VX 5 d4d door 23000 on clock , its great ,after years of audi not turn back now, one thing but

Seem to have a lot of road noise -tyre noise ,come with 4 new goodyear tyres ,sounded like landrover , got them changed to 4 Bridgestone tyres not just as bad ,may be its the wider tyre on vx 235 60 16 ??? any thoughts ,checked wheel alinement on computer wheel tracker all ok ?? anyone with similar prob

Hi Dave

From what i have heard that is just a standard problem with the Diesel models but perhaps you will just have to wait till someone replies who has one and if they have the same problem.

thanks graig Was out in rav4 last night noise seems to be worse on drivers side ?? or maybe back right wheel was looking at computer wheel tracking sheet and the chamber is off everso slight would this do it ?? couldnt be wheel bearing could it sound like a landrover hum at 40 to 50 mph any clues any one driveing me mad .

Think will have to go to dealer to check out

Hi Dave What kind of tread pattern did you have on the goodyear and bridgestones.

I had b/stone duellers 693s and they were ok but still had a slight hum.

Any tyre with a 50/50 tread bias will hum a little and they all start about 40-50 mph.

If you get up to the speed where it occurs and push the clutch in and it keeps howling its usually tyres.

Wheel bearing is unlikely at such a low mileage but not impossible.

After 10 mile drive a bad bearing would be getting hot and can usually be felt by placing your hand on the hubs.A bad one will be noticeably warmer.

Yes same Bridgestone as your self sandgroper ,haveing the local dealer look at it on wed ,will check hubs for heat have infrared temp gauge so well will see today ,think myself my be bearing ,intermitant hum turn steering to right fades a way !! we will see what wed brings
