Awhile back i went in for a powerflow exhaust loved it ever since, but i couldnt afford the extra £40 for a decat and they said it maybe difficult to do cant remember why hmmm...

Is a decat worth it?

will the car be louder or just 2bhp faster?

Or just i just skip it and save up for a downpipe

A similar question was posted recently.

Decats seem to be better on turbo's coz on N/A's they can cost you low end torque. It should give around 5-7bhp and make the car rev more freely. Should also make the exhaust sound deeper and make it pop more.

Nice thanks Dawolf , i love it when it pops

i've got the mongoose one for my N/A (came with the mongoose zorst). I havta say it does sound decent, but as dawolf said they tend to decrease low end toque, which i noticed on my car!

Looking back it's prolly not the best thing to do if you want performance for an N/A, as that low end will prolly be more useful!

Just had my car back...

Major disappointment...!!!!!!

Lost all my torque at the bottom end, feels like driving a 150bhp car now...

I only get 0.5bar at first 2 gears...then 1 bar at higher gear..I will get a new sparkplug and hope it will get better...

if you got a N/A.... don't bother.. :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby:

That shouldn't happen with a tubby... the power should be up mate

Maybe try re-setting the ecu?

thanks rico... i will try that tomorrow.... :( :(

Did they put the Sensors back if they took them out at all? meh i think ill get a downpipe now instead of just a decat i hope u get your problem sorted tony... and as rico said TRY resetting ecu

Posted

He replaced the lower pipe, so there's no sensor on the bottom part. He told me that the upper sensor will do the same job

HELP!!!!!

I'm only getting 0.4bar (1-5th gear) after resetting the ecu..

PLEASE HELP!!!

Im still taking a wild stab at this and saying he shouldve left both sensors in!

Are you pretty sure on this??

In that case I will be in deep s**t..

Can anyone without the lower temp sensor tell me about me... no offence to bloodUK...

Posted

I know for a fact its best to keep the sensor's they are there for a reason not just for show

Posted

MY dad just said

YES.... its the sensor , that probe is there for a reason what ever that guy did just buggered your car IT NEEDS TO GO BACK IN!

Posted

thanks for your help BLOODUK.

I might just need to readjust the MBC...hmm...

But I really need someone running without the temp and confirm is the same case before I embarasse myself in the garage.

What does it say? sorry buddy not regged

Posted

My dad said the sensor removal probably retards the fuel

Posted

I got a de-cat .. infact, just got the stock one gutted and the sensors are still in the stock locations with no issues ..

I had a MBC at the time and it needed no adjustment ..

Posted

just checked with mechanic mate who confirmed exactly what BLOODUK said about retarding fuel and such...........you'll probably see a lot of celica gt4 cat's on eBay saying 'ready to be gutted',

my mechanic says this can be the best way but, just drilling a hole and firing the sensor back in should fix it!

(he's no specialist toyota bloke or 'ought but he's fixed all the probs with my car and f**k me there's been plenty)
