Parkers Review Of 6th Gen

My Webpage.

does anyone else feel like this person just has something against the celica or something! i mean just read whats he's wrote!!!!

"There are just two engine options and both can be justified. Having decided the Celica is not a performance car, the 1.8 ST is perfectly okay at getting the car to 60 mph in under 10 seconds. The GT does it a couple of seconds quicker, but is a lot pricier. Besides which, the gearbox is set for motorway cruising and requires lots of shifting to get a rapid response. The entry level 1.8 is only slightly slower than the 2.0; GT-Four is the closest to a real sports car."

They reckon the GT aint quick at all basically and only a little quicker than the 1.8 which is at least 2 seconds difference!!!! Or hold on the celica is a slow car so the 1.8 is only slightly slower!!!! argh!

so are they saying that a car that does 0-60 in 6 seconds is only slightly slower than one that does it in 4 seconds!! its just ridiculous!!!! :!Removed!:

the older review was slightly better. think they said something like its quickish but doesn't feel quick! which is fair enough... i agree it doesnt FEEL THAT quick but its a quick car even by todays standards i mean it'll destroy most cheap "sports" cars... MX5's MG's etc...

OOO read the review of the CIVIC Type R.. THEY LOVE IT!!!! ARGH. They aren't much if any quicker than the GT. I mean i raced one and we were side by side until eventually i creeped away from him!

I also thought it was a bad review. If i remember correctly it got updated a month or so ago from the older review which was quite good. Although it wouldn't bother me so much if they hadn't put "Also consider- Fiat Coupe, Hyundai Coupe & Ford Cougar"! :!Removed!:

agreed the gearing in second and third could of been closer for better acceleration , but i would not say it was a slow motor , you just need to know how to drive the beast.

its about how it gets there , not the fact it can get there. its all about red lines , my xr3i never had to redline it was geared differently , closer ratio gearbox ,the celica has to get to 4000 rpm to take off.other motors do it from scratch.i find the celica gearing tedious at times.

gears seem fine to me, wish it was alittle faster off the mark, but that's why theres a gt4(if i could afford it!) you sure you raced a type-r, not the look a like? typr-r's 0-60 in 6.4 secs..... umm got thrashed by my mates..... ugly on the inside thou!!!!

yeah it can be but thats the cams isn't it?

the cars "cammy" hence no power under 3,000 revs. It could use a kick up the BTM under 3K! Think the SS1 is the same car really but with less hubik cams... should be a better cruiser.

Come off a round in second at about 2,000 revs and it takes forever and a year till it starts shifting... Drop it into fitrst though...

6.4 seems a little optimistic TBH for the new type R!

Positive it was a type R, a standard looking silver one!

thats just the thing , thrash it in first up to around 45, quickly into second until 60 ish and ur away upto over 100 in a little time , but try to apply power in third under 3000 rpm and they just sit there longing to be thrashed.i feel at times i'm cruel to the motor but they seem to love it.
