Last year I purchased a used 2001 Camry LE V6 with 31,000 miles on it. At the 36,000 mile mark, I had to get 2 coil packs replaced (#2 & 6). Now, at 51,000 I have to get #4 replaced. This does not seem to be normal.

The frequency of this leads me to believe there is an underlying electrical problem, but the dealership says they can't find anything. They also agree, somewhat, that it is rare that 3 coil packs would need replacement. To make matters worse, my Toyota warranty says coil packs are not a covered item (of course).

Does anyone else have any experience with coil packs going bad? Is this normal?

TIA
