Yaris Mystery Fault

Last saturday the engine fault light came on and it started to act like a tractor, I took it to the garage who plugged it in and said it had a air leak, they replaced a small pipe and it has run fine until today, when again the engine fault light came on and it again started running like a tractor.

This time however the engine fault light goes off and on intermitenly and if I turn the engine off and leave it a few moments and re-start it then runs fine for anything between a couple of miles or upto 20.

I have had it back to the garage who have had it plugged into two different diagnosic devices and they inform me that there is nothing wrong with the car, depite explaining in detail, the garage staff insist that if they can not find a fault that there isn't one.

Am I the only person on the planet with what is rappedly becoming an unreliable yaris or has anyone else out there had a similar problem, and how was it resolved.

Take a mechanic for a long drive. Or stick it on a rolling road if they have one until it starts playing up.
