I had cruise control on a bike once. I'd bent the handlebar in a prevous crash, so the throttle tube didn't rotate without some effort. brilliant fun. I used to shuffle onto the back seat then shout at people that the rider had fell off and I didnt know what to do.

those were the days.

Yes, aftermarket cruise control kits are available, look for Rostra Precision Controls, they make kits for some Toyotas, not sure if they do one for the Yaris though.

Cheers, Yves.

no thats a !Removed!/woman thing that lightens the power steering when in a car park!

cruise control automatically maintains the speed for you so you can take your feet off the pedal on MWays etc

and yes Matt me old chum you can have it fitted aftermarket but it aint cheap!! i think a basic system may bpush 800quid fitted??

800 quid :(

Thats that plan outta the window :(

And kenno, you are right i was thinking of getting cruise control as it saves on petrol costs and you are more likely to do the speed limit :D

Me brothers got that !Removed! parking thing,, like its not light enough already!

Hey, don't you guys have cruise control as an option over there? Our Canadian hatches can have it fitted as a Toyota accessory!

Maybe you can get one of those?

Cheers

Maybe it'd be cheaper to tie a brick to a carefully measured piece of string attached to the steering wheel or something?

I really want proper cruise control though. My girlfriend briefly had a Hyundai Coupe with it, and it was excellent - especially the 'speed up' button!

Have any of the other Toyota models got it (Celica maybe?)?

My dad has it on his BM and swears by it as a wway to lessen the chance of you getting caught speeding. He has the radar adaptive system fitted to his 530d. I had a shot of it the other weeek and it really is fantastic. You don't find you're "creeping" up behind slightly slower cars.

I wouldn't mind a system for the Yaris for exactly the same reasons as Matt has described - but not at that price!

I've definitely seen a Celica advertised with Cruise Control before on Autotrader, but must have been a mistake cos I can't find any others with it.

Matt, let me know if you come up with something cheaper than £800!

My Supra has cruise control. Once set, you can use the button to increase/decrase your speed as well.

I have driven quite a few other manufacturers with it aswell and they all have slight differences between them (you couldn't change the speed on the Vauxhall/Fiats).

Oh just keep your foot on the pedal and watch the speedo, you wuss!

Cruise control is probably dangerous on our motorways. You'd spend most of your time kicking down on it to switch it off (assuming it was an accelerator pedal version) AND left foot braking to avoid the guy who'd just overtaken and pulled right in front of you!
