Upgrading Sound System

Ive got an after market headunit and Ive jus got a sony Xplod 12" and realised that i need to upgrade the rest of the system. ive noticed the doors vibrate a lot aswell. so here are my options:

Option 1

Change the door and dash Speakers for better ones.

Option 2

Disconnect the door Speakers and have 6x9s in boxes in the boot. (i dont want to make holes in my shelf)

Option 3

Use bass blockers on the door Speakers.

P.S is there a way to stop the doors vibrating and is it posible to connect 6x9s as well as keeping the other speakers running?

yes you can technically connect the 6 x 9s in with the other Speakers too...

you get a wiring loom from toyota.. £15 ish.... this splits off the two usual sets of Speakers as well as 2 extra for the 6 x 9s .. its what i ahve done... only problem is.. I have connected mine to the amp in the boot.. and for some reason it doesnt think there is anything connected across there and my dash Speakers dont work :P (dont notice it much tbh)... but apparently if you connected the 6 x 9s straight to it... all 3 pairs should work fine :)

i'd upgrade the door and dash Speakers if i were you. otherwise most of the sound would be comin from the back. a balanced sound stage sounds much better. I have this problem as my vitz doesnt have place for door Speakers (just the dash ones). You on the other hand do have door Speakers... so use em

matbe a nice set of components would go nicely :D

and once u are changing the speakers and have your door cards off u might aswell get some soundproofing in there to stop the rattling! sounds much much better too.

u've got no amp for your sub??

Im doing the same soon. Got 12" Sony running at 350W (the little red rectangle amp?) and the mid to high levels of sound are getting drowned out, all needs balancing.

how do i unscrew the dash speakers as the windscreen is in the way

You can use a socket set to unscrew them

id upgrade ur standard Speakers, and preferably run them off a decent amp (rather than the head unit)

it should improve the quality a lot! :)

also it would be a good idea to use some sound deadning inside the doors to help stop the vibration. id use brown bread or dynamat

james :)
