Fitting Spax Springs With No Clamps

yes if you have a helping hand to push the top down onto the spring ,while you tighten the nut on. freeing the old springs simply lie the strut on the floor resting against a wall , using a long extention and a 19mm socket turn the nut until it pops off , it only recoils slightly, not leg breaking recoil, to fit the lowered springs ,because they are shorter you dont need compressors at all , just push down to get a 2" gain on the strut threads.i have done this on celicas more than once and fitted them the same way without compressors.

2 tips .

1 loosen the top strut nut whilst on the car.but dont remove

2 make sure to line up the slot on the top mount and the slots on the strut, on the fronts.

why because when he comes to lift the strut out maybe the top will fall off and the bearing go's walkabouts and then he dunno how it went together and stands every chance of ruining the fine threads on the strut, for 1.

2 ,not turning it into a discussion cooki , its how i do it , if you do it like that ,then thats ok. if its brownie points your after , join the guides.:lol:
